NSPA Senior Procurement Officer contributes to the MIT Global SCALE conference

BOSTON; USA – On 1 February 2023, the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) Senior Procurement Officer gave a lecture on "Supplier Negotiation with an Artificial Intelligence (AI)" at the Global Supply Chain and Logistics Excellence (SCALE) conference hosted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Mr. Antonio Ancora, NSPA Senior Procurement Officer and adjunct Professor in Negotiation at the Luxembourg Centre for Logistics and Supply Chain Management, introduced the attendees to the most effective and efficient strategies to use autonomous AI negotiating agents versus human negotiators. He was joined by the CEO of Pactum AI, Mr. Martin Rand, who presented his autonomous agent currently applied in real-life negotiations for major corporations such as Walmart and Maersk. To conclude his lecture and demonstrate that Supplier Negotiation with AI is already a reality, Mr Ancora created a supply chain scenario that provided MIT GLOBAL SCALE students with the chance to simulate a negotiation with Pactum's autonomous agent.

As future Supply Chain managers, students must understand when it is more cost-effective to employ AI versus a human considering the total cost of ownership. Negotiating with AI will soon become the norm, therefore it is crucial for students to know the most effective tactics to adopt and which ones to expect

The MIT SCALE conference reunited over 200 MIT Master students in Supply Chain Management, and the MIT GLOBAL SCALE NETWORK – a community that spans to six centers of excellence on four continents, with over a dozen educational programs worldwide.
