NSPA General Manager participates in OCCAR-EA Director's Handover ceremony


BONN, GERMANY - On 20 January 2023, NSPA General Manager, Ms Stacy Cummings, participated in the OCCAR-EA Director's Handover ceremony. During the event, Vice Admiral Matteo Bisceglia, the OCCAR-EA Director for the past three years, handed over his duties to Mr Joachim Sucker. Mr Joachim Sucker, will officially start his tenure on 1 February 2023.

The handover ceremony took place at the Gustav Stresemann Institute in Bonn, at the presence of the OCCAR Board of Supervisors, national and industry representatives, and representatives from international organisations, including the EC and NSPA.

During her speech, Ms Cummings thanked Vice Admiral Bisceglia underlining his instrumental contribution to the good cooperation between the two organisations. In congratulating and welcoming Mr Sucker, she reiterated her wish to continue this fruitful cooperation in the future.

NSPA has worked closely with OCCAR for two decades on a number of significant projects, including the provision of automated support for TIGER helicopters and A400M aircraft, as well as for COBRA radars.

The Multinational MRTT Fleet (MMF) was the most prominent example of collaboration between the organisations. "This has been a complex programme since the beginning, but OCCAR's dedication during the acquisition phase has been essential and its success set an important precedent in multinational cooperation. This particular project has now come to a planned end but we will continue working together on other fronts." ensured Ms Cummings.

OCCAR (Organisation Conjointe de Coopération en matière d'Armement / Organisation for Joint Armament Co-operation) is an international organization, composed of six member nations (Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom) whose core business is the through life management of complex, cooperative defence equipment programmes.
