The NGRC Concept Stage, managed by the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) on behalf of the Partnership member nations, is expected to provide the foundation to develop and field a NGRC model that is able to fulfil a multitude of roles.
Through the Partnership, established by the NSPO Agency Supervisory Board on 22 November 2022, NSPA will explore options such as hybrid-engines and electric propulsion; an Open System Architecture; a Concept of Operations as well as design solutions for NGRC before initiating following stages.
Medium multi-role helicopters have a wide range of civilian and military uses, including transportation of people and equipment, medical evacuation, search and rescue. With many of NATO's medium-class multi-role helicopters due to reach the end of their operational service lives in the next decade, the NGRC project will be critical in adhering to the strict development timeline.
The NGRC is a NATO multinational High Visibility Project and demonstrates NATO Allies' commitment to maintain a technological edge and to pursue multinational cooperation.
