NATO Airborne Early Warning & Control and NSPA conduct Spring Programme Management Review

LUXEMBOURG - On 14 March 2022, NATO Airborne Early Warning & Control Force Commander, Major General Thomas E. Kunkel and his Deputy Air Commodore, Keith Taylor, visited the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) in Luxembourg. They met with the NSPA Director of Life Cycle Management Mr Allan McLeod and the NSPA NAEW&C Programme Manager, Mr Norbert Schneider, to conduct the Spring Programme Management Review.

For over four decades, the Agency has been supporting the NAEW&C Force with several aircraft related services, ranging from spare part requisition for operations or Depot Level Maintenance, to contracting and overseeing services provided by the Industry. NSPA also provides a high number of support services to the Main Operating Base at Geilenkirchen, Germany. This includes local procurement, contracting of complex services and goods, a multi modal transport solution for the transport of passengers and material and calibration services, among others.

During the Spring Programme Management Review, both parties reviewed all these support and procurement activities. Potential improvements to the current processes, upcoming opportunities for new projects and cooperation models were identified and discussed during the meeting. Major General Kunkel expressed his satisfaction with the provided services.

The Agency and NAEW&C conduct two Senior Programme Management Reviews every year. The first one during spring time, takes place in Capellen, Luxembourg, while the one conducted in the fall season takes place in Geilenkirchen, Germany.

Overall this was a very fruitful exchange of the past, the present and future of this unique and long-standing cooperation between NAEW&C and NSPA

Major General Thomas E. Kunkel took over command of the NATO Airborne Early Warning & Control Force in July 2021. Therefore, this was his very first visit to NSPA. "Overall this was a very fruitful exchange of the past, the present and future of this unique and long-standing cooperation between NAEW&C and NSPA", assured Mr Norbert Schneider, NSPA NAEW&C Programme Manager.
