Minister of Defence of the Republic of Albania meets NSPA General Manager


LUXEMBOURG On 18 February 2022, Ms Stacy Cummings, NSPA General Manager welcomed Mr Niko Peleshi, Minister of Defence of the Republic of Albania, to NSPA headquarters in Luxembourg. Mr Peleshi visited the Agency accompanied by a delegation from the Ministry of Defence and National Military Representatives.

NSPA Senior Officers accompanied Ms Cummings to discuss ongoing projects between the Agency and Albania, and further cooperation opportunities to further develop and enhance Albanian Armed Forces capabilities. This included the ongoing works at Kuçova Air Base, the maintenance of the COUGAR fleet helicopters, and further cooperation opportunities in the areas of cyber defense, civil emergencies, medical capabilities, strategic airlift, radar support and Demilitarization, Dismantling and Disposal (D3) domain.

Among the discussions, special attention was given to the infrastructure works that NSPA is undertaking to restore and modernize Kuçova Air Base. The Agency is supporting NATO and the Albanian government with different design and construction projects to bring the air base up to operational standards and increase the security building capacity in the Western region.

The Minister praised the support provided by the Agency to maintain the COUGAR helicopter fleet that Albania operates, and welcomed NSPA's offer for more cooperation opportunities.
