LUXEMBOURG - On 2 December 2021, NSPA General Manager, Ms. Stacy Cummings, met with Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) General Tod D. Wolters at the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) in Mons, Belgium.
SACEUR is one of the two strategic commanders for NATO and is the Commander Allied Command Operations (ACO). He is responsible for the overall direction and conduct of military operations for NATO. SACEUR leads all NATO military operations and is dual-hatted as Commander US European Command. His command is exercised from the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe.
This was the first meeting between both leaders and an opportunity to discuss NSPA's role as Contract Integrator for Allied Command Operations.
In 2011, NSPA was appointed by the Military Committee as Contract Integrator to plan and provide contractual support to NATO exercises and future operations. To this end, SHAPE designated a cross-functional team to provide the linkage between ACO and NSPA in their support. The NSPA Planning and Liaison Team (NPLT) provides advice, planning and assistance in provision of Contractor Support to Operations.
NSPA provides contractual support to current operations in Kosovo, to air and maritime forces globally, and during exercises such as the DEFENDER series. Through its Southern Operational Centre (SOC) in Taranto (Italy) the Agency also stores and manages deployable camps that can be set up during operations and exercises within days, following SHAPE's guidance. The Agency played a key role in the closure of the Resolute Support mission in Afghanistan, which it had supported since 2006.
In addition, NSPA supports a number of ACO capabilities through their life cycle providing logistics support and services to NATO Integrated Air Defence System (NATINADS), NATO Depot & Support System (NDSS), the Allied Early Warming and Control System (AWACS) and the Alliance Ground Surveillance (AGS).
