NSPA General Manager meets OCCAR Director

LUXEMBOURG - On 6 December 2021, NSPA General Manager, Ms. Stacy Cummings, met for the first time with Mr. Matteo Bisceglia, Director of the Organisation for Join Armament Cooperation (OCCAR) on the occasion of the biannual meeting between the two organisations. Ms. Cummings and Mr. Bisceglia had the opportunity to exchange views on current ongoing projects and potential future cooperation.

While underlining the current excellent cooperation, Ms Cummings identified the need for future collaboration in digital engineering and intellectual property data sharing, as these are increasingly important for industry and nations participating in multinational projects.

NSPA and OCCAR have become valuable strategic partners and this cooperation has turned into a key benefit for our mutual customers. NSPA has worked closely with OCCAR for nearly two decades, on a number of significant projects, providing automated support for TIGER helicopters and A400M aircraft as well as for COBRA radars.

The most prominent example of collaboration between both organisations is the Multinational MRTT Fleet (MMF). NSPA manages the programme and is responsible of the life cycle management of the fleet, whereas OCCAR, as the Contract Executing Agent for NSPA, manages the Acquisition Phase, including the first two years of In-Service Support. This cooperation between the two organisations will help mitigate one of Europe's critical capability shortfalls.

NATO and the European Union share similar strategic interests, they have common values and face the same challenges. NSPA plans to continue reinforcing this essential cooperation to address the evolving security challenges and unify efforts with OCCAR to achieve common goals.
