LUXEMBOURG - Mr Peter Dohmen, NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA)'s General Manager has been awarded with the NATO Meritorious Service Medal. The award was issued on behalf of NATO's Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg, for his outstanding leadership during his five years tenure at the helm of NSPA.
Major General Dohmen was appointed as NSPA's General Manager in 2016, retiring from the Dutch Armed Forces after a successful four-decade career. His leadership has enabled the Agency to grow its complex portfolio to an unprecedented four billion euro, achieving high levels of customer satisfaction among NATO Allies and Partner Nations.
Mr Dohmen has been instrumental in delivering the Agency's vision of becoming NATO's premier procurement, logistics and services provider, fulfilling the acquisition mission given by the North Atlantic Council. Under his leadership, the Agency has undergone two strategic optimisation phases, modernising business functions and programmes, implementing innovative initiatives to improve efficiency and achieving great levels of compliance, quality and reputation.
In the operational domain, he has ensured ongoing and effective support to NATO mutual security and crisis management strategy and operations in the Air, Land and Maritime environments. Today, the Agency is recognised as an important operational enabler in peacetime and crisis, not only through traditional logistic functions but also in the medical and engineering domain.
In the life cycle area, the Agency has continued growing and adapting its portfolio to offer the best customer experience. New successful multinational programmes, such as the Multinational MRTT Fleet (MMF), were initiated during his mandate.
Mr Dohmen's relentless commitment and achievements have inspired the confidence of Allies and customers. His leadership and dedication have been instrumental in the development and optimisation of the Agency, setting a new course for its future.
The medal was awarded on 30 June 2021, as he addressed the 30 NATO Nations for the last time during the Agency Supervisory Board (ASB). Mr Dohmen will complete his tenure in September 2021.
