Several tons of urgent medical supplies arrive in Poland to combat COVID-19


Luxembourg, 9 April 2020 –Several tons of medical supplies including 190,000 masks and 180,000 protective suits among other overalls arrived in Poland on the 9th of April to help the country combat the effects of coronavirus.


Luxembourg, 9 April 2020 –Several tons of medical supplies including 190,000 masks and 180,000 protective suits among other overalls arrived in Poland on the 9th of April to help the country combat the effects of coronavirus.

The flight was arranged by the Polish Armed Forces using the Strategic Airlift International Solution (SALIS). A cargo AN-124 aircraft took off the morning of the 7th of April from the SALIS Base of Operations, in Leipzig/Halle airport and loaded the cargo in Shanghai, China on the following day. The aircraft reached final destination in Wroclaw around 02:20 local time on the 9th of April.

SALIS provides the nine NATO nations participating in the programme with assured access to outsized cargo transport aircraft. Poland, as other NATO nations, is currently using the Strategic Airlift International Solution (SALIS) capabilities to airlift urgent medical protective equipment from China and tackle coronavirus crisis.
