NSPA support to Afghanistan continues

On 9 May 2020, an NSPA chartered flight arrived in Kabul, Afghanistan, carrying nearly 60 tons of soldiers gear, IT equipment and medical supplies, to support the sustainment of the Afghan National Army (ANA) and the Afghan National Police (ANP).

The largest amount of cargo was composed of Extreme Cold Weather (ECW) clothing and other support equipment which has been donated to the Afghan National Army, primarily to the 209th Corps. This equipment will provide the troops with the necessary clothing protection from the low temperatures associated with the harsh Afghan winters. NSPA purchased the items through a competitive bidding process, collated them and shipped them in the most economical and cost effective manner to Afghanistan. This shipment is part of a larger 40 million USD project for the acquisition of ECW clothing for the Afghan National Army.

Additionally, the shipment included IT office equipment that will be donated to the Kabul Military Training Center (KMTC) and medical consumables for the medical depots of the Afghan Army and the Police.

This assignment is part of the extensive NSPA support to the Combined Security Transition Command in Afghanistan (CSTC-A). As part of the Resolute Support Mission, CSTC-A is the centre-of-gravity organization for the security assistance process for the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) and ministries. Under CSTC-A projects, the Agency enables the establishment and sustainment of Afghanistan infrastructure, facilities and organisations including military, law enforcement, education and medical.
