NSPA Embarks on Ambitious Fuel Plans

NSPA's provision of fuel support has been growing substantially over the recent years and business volume is expected to reach $1 Billion in 2020.

In February 2020, the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) conducted a Table Top Exercise (TTX) to establish the bulk fuel quantities and types required in order to support the NATO Response Force (NRF) air and land forces. This TTX was part of a series of activities initiated by Allies early in 2019.

During the exercise, participants analysed a number of different scenarios for deterrence and defence of the Baltic States and Poland.

NSPA Embarks on Ambitious Fuel Plans

The Agency already provides fuel in support of NATO operations in Afghanistan and Kosovo. It also provides fuel for NATO forward based forces in Estonia and Lithuania and, since 2017, it has put in place standby contracts for the NATO multinational Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF).

Separately, the Agency also provides fuel to naval and air forces globally and has launched a number of other initiatives.

Leveraging from its expertise in providing fuel support, NSPA has ambitious plans for fuel support in the future, based upon delivery of multinationally funded solutions for NATO Allies and partners. The Agency hopes this will achieve economy of effort for nations, as well as financial savings through economy of scale.
