NSPA team creates and donates 3D-printed Face Shields to Taranto Hospital in Italy

The NSPA team in Taranto (Italy) continues to engage in innovative initiatives to help tackling the shortage of medical equipment during the coronavirus crisis. The team already produced 3D printed connectors converting snorkelling masks into emergency ventilator masks and donated them to the Italian Civil Protection Department. Now the team is working in the production of 3D-printed face-shields to help protect health care workers in the local hospitals.

The first batch was donated on 29 April 2020 to the Hospital of Taranto. The Health Directors of the Hospital were present at the moment of the donation to personally thank the team for their initiative and contribution.

"We have stopped the production of 3D connectors as we were informed that the hospitals reached capability for these items. Now we have teamed up with other 3D makers in the region to produce face shields and help protecting the workers on the front line. Doctors, nurses, cleaners, they are all exposed in the hospitals and need these protective equipment", said Enzo Rondinelli, NSPA Official, who started the initiative.
