North Macedonia hosts NATO Industry Day

On 13 November, North Macedonia hosted its first NATO Industry Day with the participation of the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) and NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA).

The event, celebrated in Skopje, was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister in charge of Economic Affairs, Mr Kocho Angjushev, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence, Ms Radmila Sekerinska. More than 60 North Macedonian companies and high officials from the Government were gathered to learn about NATO public procurement processes.

During the official opening, both Mr Angjushev and Ms Sekerinska stressed the importance of the event in the context of North Macedonia accession to NATO and the opportunities for its national industry.

"We do not have rocket systems and weapons production in our country, but we have plenty of products that can be offered, primarily in the areas of food, textile, post office, industry, metal industry and associated logistics needs" Vice Premier Angjushev said.

Defence Minister Sekerinska alleged that NATO membership opens "not only the military-political door, but also the economic door for our companies to appear on a much wider market."

NSPA's delegation was led by Mr Patrick Fesquet, Director of Procurement, who expressed, on behalf of the General Manager, deep appreciation for the invitation and encouraged the companies present to get ready to exploit NSPA opportunities fitting their products and capabilities as North Macedonia becomes a NATO member.

The event allowed a fruitful exchange of information and was considered as a "total success", by the host nation, receiving full coverage in the national news.

North Macedonia is currently going through the accession process to become a NATO member Nation. As NATO Secretary General said in October: "The ratification process is well on track" and we are looking forward to North Macedonia joining our Alliance soon.
