Mr Zoltán Nagy joined the Agency in July 2023 as the Chief of Staff, following almost three decades of working in the Hungarian Diplomatic Service, leaving in the rank of Ambassador.
He is responsible for the overall co-ordination of the NSPA HQ, ensuring effective, efficient, and responsive operation, resource and performance management.
He has extensive experience working on political-military issues in the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Defence, Hungarian Delegation to NATO and the NATO International Staff.
At the beginning of his career, he worked on crisis management dossiers as a member of Hungary's OSCE Presidency/Troika team in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He was then assigned to work on Hungary's accession to NATO in the Ministry of Defence.
Following Hungary's accession to NATO, he served as Political Counsellor in the Hungarian Delegation to NATO. Having returned from Brussels, he became Deputy Head of the Security Policy Department, and acted as Hungary's Deputy Special Representative for Afghanistan.
Later he served as Head of Section for NATO & Multilateral Affairs within the NATO International Staff, Political Affairs and Security Policy Division, followed by an assignment as Chief of Protocol in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
As Hungary's ambassador to Belgium and Luxembourg, and most recently as the Permanent Representative of Hungary on the North Atlantic Council, he was the head of a diplomatic mission, where he was responsible for leading large multiagency teams, managing activities and resources.
